Well, the election is all over and Obama is President again, for another term! What do you think of that? It was so close in the popular vote with Obama a little bit ahead of Romney. However, Obama did very well with the Electoral votes which helped him to win. In the end, it’s still a much divided America! Therefore, everything remains the same as if no one voted at all because the President is still Obama, and the U.S. House majority still remains Republican and the Senate is Democratic, so what has changed? Not one thing is different today than before the election, and America is stagnant and unchanged.
It appears that a little over half of all American’s are happy with the way things have been administered in this country for the past four years. I sensed a feeling of discontentment from the American people about the vast issues related to our huge debt, military efforts, unemployment rate/economy, and the health care system in this country. It looks like I was completely off base and delusional about all the problems in this country during Obama’s first term as President, or am I wrong?
Two of the main reasons why Obama is President for the second term are because, first of all, he won over 30% of the growing Hispanic populations in America. Secondly, “Obama beat Romney 55 percent to 43 points among women, according to Reuters/Ipsos Election Day polling. That 12-point victory nearly matched Obama’s 13-point win among female voters over Republican John McCain in 2008.”
Based on the end result of this election, I am much more fearful for this country and its future! However, the only way I can peacefully justify Obama winning as President is to truly believe that it’s God’s will for this country! It’s the only plausible way in which to conceive the whole situation. As Christians, we must trust God and have faith that this election was only a small piece of a big puzzle. God knows our future, and he will be with us no matter what happens on this earth. “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (Zephaniah 3:17, New Living Translation©2007)
I know Dixie, right now I can almost read your mind. You are extremely disappointed and discouraged about the outcome of this election. Just like I had mentioned to you before, we have no dominion over what God is in Control of because he can see the end result and we can only see the present that seems to look so bleak and grey. Like I said before, as Christians, we need to have faith in God. I know it’s hard, but it’s the only way to let go and give it to God…until the next election in 2016.
Look to God for wisdom, courage, and strength and not to this world or the things in it…
